Get a Head Start on Your Holiday Shopping

Get a Head Start on Your Holiday Shopping

It’s hard to believe that December is just a few days away. With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, now is an excellent time to start planning for the winter holidays. Regardless of what you celebrate, gift-giving is a big part of the season. At GoPrime Mortgage in West Asheville, we value local products and anything that makes less of an environmental impact. Here are a few ways you can get a head start on your holiday shopping.

Gift Ideas for Everyone

Now more than ever, it’s essential to plan for gift giving. With supply chain and staffing issues happening across all industries, preparing will save you stress and anxiety this season. But that’s also why we recommend alternative gift ideas for everyone on your list. Our favorites include:

  • Giving the gift of an experience
  • Buying consumables to enjoy at the holidays
  •  Investing in the local economy
  • Donating to a local organization

Even if your favorite thing to do is open gifts with your family, you can celebrate the holidays by choosing your gifts deliberately this year. Here are a few ideas.

Give an Experience

Does your loved one like to travel? Even if you can’t plan something specific, give them a gift they can use in the future, like an Airbnb gift card. If they love music, check out the shows coming up in early 2022 at The Orange Peel and Rabbit Rabbit. Or consider tickets to a musical or concert at The Peace Center down in Greenville. If you want to do something more seasonal during the holidays, check out the Winter Lights at the North Carolina Arboretum. The sky’s the limit.

Buy Consumables

Of course, we can’t talk about Asheville without mentioning the fantastic food and drink available right here in our area. Buy growlers or six-packs of favorite beers from any of our local breweries. Gift cards from local restaurants are always a great idea. Or put together a pack of Asheville foods featuring favorites like Lusty Monk Mustard, spices from Spicewalla, Imladris Farms jams, sweet treats from French Broad Chocolates, and more. These are especially fun gifts for friends and family who live anywhere else in the country.

Invest in the Local Economy

At GoPrime Mortgage, when we talk about buying gifts, we like to promote investment in the local economy. There are so many independent business owners making and selling items throughout the Western North Carolina area that you are sure to find anything you could want. For anyone who loves geek culture, check out Geek Orthodox. They make custom stained glass and clings and a variety of nerdy t-shirts that make great gifts. Or check out any other local businesses and search by category at the GoLocal website.

Give to Charity

We also believe that giving to local organizations around the holidays is a great way to give back to the community. You can choose from many local groups depending on the cause that moves you. Homeward Bound is dedicated to ending chronic homelessness. The Asheville Humane Society does work to help area animals find forever homes. Choose an organization that speaks to your loved one’s values and donate in their name this holiday season.

GoPrime loves to hear from you. What are your favorite places to find gifts and experiences for your loved ones during the holidays?
