Honoring Father’s Day in 2021
While we celebrate mothers in May, June is all about dads. Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20th. The sun is shining, and we’re beginning to see a path out of this pandemic. So how can you show Dad how much he’s appreciated? Here are a few ideas for out-of-the-box ways to celebrate and honor the dads in your life.
Play Disc Golf
Disc Golf is a super fun way to spend the day outside with dad. The sport is a delightful combination of frisbee and golf. The greater Asheville area has several courses to play.
Visit a Brewery
If you’re over twenty-one, consider taking your dad out to any of the many breweries in our area. There were over thirty breweries in Asheville at the last count and nearly fifty in the greater Asheville area. Check out the newest Asheville Ale Trail guide to pick a perfect spot to share a brew with Dad.
Go on a Hike
If you’re looking for fun for all ages, a hike can be a great family activity that Dad will love. There are countless hikes in the area, and we’ve talked about a few of them over the years. Some of our other favorites include the Craggy Gardens off the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Pisgah, and Max Patch.
Host an Outdoor Movie Night
If you want to stay closer to home, here’s a fun idea that can involve the whole family or the whole neighborhood if you wish. Host an outdoor movie night. Projectors are becoming quite affordable and can connect to any digital media player you already have. Project dad’s favorite movie on the side of your house or throw a sheet up on the garage and have everyone bring out their lawn chairs. You can serve up popcorn for the theater experience. Great movies for Dad include:
- Star Wars: A New Hope
- Finding Nemo
- National Lampoon’s Vacation
- Big Fish
Call your Dad
If you don’t live in the same city as your father, here’s a tip: call him. Just like moms, sometimes all your dad wants is to hear from you. You can even make it more special by dialing up via Zoom so you can see each other as you chat.
At GoPrime, we’re excited to celebrate the fathers in our community. What are you doing for Father’s Day this year?
