Leaf season is in full swing here in Western North Carolina. The Fall Color Forecast from Romantic Asheville tells us that the highest elevations are just starting to come into peak color right now, while the city of Asheville will be vibrant by the end of the month. Have you always dreamed of living somewhere as magical as Western North Carolina in the fall? If so, where can you find those perfect views in our area? We’ve put together some of the best places to look for your next home.
Burnsville
Burnsville, in Yancy County, is a picture-perfect small town surrounded by gorgeous mountain vistas. It’s about a 40-minute drive from Asheville and is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains where you can find land with acreage to enjoy the four seasons in Western North Carolina. It’s also not far from Boon, the home of Appalachian State University.
Sylva
Southwest of Asheville, the town of Sylva has a lot to offer. Not only do you have a small downtown area with shops, restaurants, and a notable brewery, you also have gorgeous hills and mountains all around. Here, you’re surrounded by the Smoky Mountains and still only about 50 minutes from Asheville. The City Hall itself sits on top of a hill in the center of downtown.
Brevard
If what you want are waterfalls, you can’t get much better than Brevard. In Transylvania County, known for its record-breaking number of waterfalls, the Brevard area offers several options for people who are looking for both acreage and views. When the fall colors come, there is nothing better than a place to enjoy the scenery.
Waynesville
The city of Waynesville, located between Asheville and Sylva, is also a picturesque place for land, acreage, and views. Waynesville has a bustling downtown area nestled in the hills and along the river in what’s called the Frog Level area. The surrounding mountains are gorgeous and offer sprawling land to take in.
Marshall
Just 30 minutes from Asheville is the small town of Marshall in Madison County. Downtown Marshall is just a main street along the French Broad River and features a few businesses from a popular coffeehouse to a brewery. In the river is Blanahasset island, once a school and now an artist community. But surrounding downtown and the river are areas with gorgeous views and mountains.
