It’s National Pet Month! What better time to celebrate our furry (or feathered, or finned, or scaled) family members? Asheville has gained quite a reputation for being pet-friendly with various organizations dedicated to the appreciation and welfare of companion animals. This year, to honor pets in the WNC area, consider these resources to help you keep your animal companions happy and healthy.
Patton Avenue Pet Company
With locations in downtown, west, and east Asheville, Patton Avenue Pet Company has become the household name for pet supplies. The store specializes in healthy food for dogs and cats and a wide selection of other products to promote health and well-being. And it’s not all serious at Patton Avenue Pets – there are plenty of toys and accessories for your pampered pup or favorite feline.
The Cat Clinic of Asheville
While Asheville often makes the list of Top Dog-Friendly Cities, it’s also a fantastic place for cat lovers. The recent reopening of The Cat Clinic of Asheville, now on Haywood Road in West Asheville, brings the most advanced cat care to the city. The clinic is a certified Cat-Friendly clinic, and Dr. Annie King and her staff practice fear-free feline healthcare.
Brother Wolf
The name Brother Wolf has become synonymous with pet rescue in the Asheville area. The non-profit organization runs an adoption center and rescues more than just dogs and cats. You can adopt your next pet or help out through volunteering this National Pet Month or donating to the organization.
Asheville Humane Society
Another rescue organization that we support directly here at GoPrime Mortgage is the Asheville Humane Society. They rescue and adopt out cats, dogs, and other animals looking for good homes in our area. They also have a thrift store that helps them raise the money they need to care for more animals.
Asheville Cat Weirdos Emergency Fund
Asheville Cat Weirdos started as a Facebook group for cat lovers, but it evolved into an active local community dedicated to our feline companions’ welfare over time. The Asheville Cat Weirdos Emergency Fund is a 100% donation-based assistance program for unplanned vet costs for cats throughout western North Carolina.
We would love to hear from you! Tell us about your pets and your favorite pet resources this National Pet Month.
