The short answer to the question is an average of 65 days on the market for homes in Asheville. But there are quite a few factors that influence this timeframe.
Types of Buyers
In Asheville, there are a few kinds of buyers on the market. You may be familiar with the luxury housing market because those are the homes that are showcased on WLOS and social media. But we’ve also seen a sweet spot for the average home buyer. Buyers looking at the $200,000 to $300,000 range are on the market for only days while luxury homes over $1 million can wait for months without a serious offer.
This is part of the reason why it’s so important for Asheville buyers to become prequalified before looking at homes. If a home will sell in days or even hours, you can’t wait to complete the financial process.

The types of homes and the type of buyers are closely aligned. We already mentioned the luxury $1 million-plus homes as well as the $200,000 to $300,000 range homes in the market, but that leaves a lot in the middle. And when it comes to the majority of Asheville’s neighborhoods, you’ll see a lot in the $400,000 to $500,000 or more range.
Asheville has a wide range of design types from new home developments, mostly down near Arden and scattered throughout the city, to historic homes built in the teens and twenties. The further you get from the city center, the more affordable homes tend to become. However, then you need to account for commute time and other variables in your financial picture.
