Top 10 Cleaning Products for Your Home Today
Cleaning products are a big topic of conversation these days. Now, more than ever, we’re looking at bottles and ingredients to see if the products we’re using can kill coronavirus and other nasty germs. Here at GoPrime of West Asheville, we’ve always promoted green products that help the environment, as well as provide cleaning power to your home. You don’t have to abandon your environmental values to combat the novel coronavirus. There are several products at all levels you can use around your house.
1. Grain Alcohol
Yes, you read that right. Grain alcohol can be effective when used to clean surfaces. Cultivated Cocktails Distillery in Asheville converted their production line to start making hand sanitizer very early on in the COVID-19 crisis.
You can also use hydrogen peroxide to clean surfaces in your home to sanitize and prevent the spread of germs. Peroxide is non-corrosive and won’t discolor metal surfaces, but it can bleach the fabric.
If you’re looking at all-natural cleaners, check out those that list thymol as an ingredient. Check out the brand CleanWell and their Benefect Botanical spray and towelettes.
4. Mrs. Meyer’s Surface Cleaner
Another natural cleaner that makes the cut is Mrs. Meyer’s surface cleaner. You can buy it in a spray bottle from many grocery stores and it’s effective in killing viruses.
5. Tom’s of Maine Hand Soap
Soap and water are still very effective against viruses like the one that causes COVID-19. If you’re looking for a natural product, Tom’s of Maine hand soap is a good choice.
6. Seventh Generation Wipes
Lots of people like the convenience of wipes, so you want to look for those that can disinfect surfaces to keep your family safe from the novel coronavirus. Seventh Generation has wipes that are environmentally friendly and still destroy viruses.
7. Thieves Oil
Small businesses right here in Asheville are using essential oils to create products that can help keep us healthy. I regularly use thieves oil to mist my environment.
8. Isopropyl Alcohol
While we always want to promote our green values, we know that a lot of people are very concerned about COVID-19 and how contagious it can be. If you can’t access sanitizers made with grain alcohol, regular rubbing alcohol is an effective cleaner.
Bleach, which it should be used sparingly, will kill coronavirus on surfaces around your home. If you don’t have access to other types of cleaners, you can use it on commonly touched surfaces.
Lastly, while it wouldn’t be out top recommendation, we know that Lysol products are effective at killing the family of coronaviruses, including the one that causes COVID-19.
Of course, with all of these products, they’re meant to be used on surfaces for cleaning and you should never ingest them. And be sure to simply keep your hands clean by washing them regularly with soap and water and avoid touching your face.
